The system operator has issued an open call to major energy users to get involved in helping unlock the power of demand side flexibility (DSF).
NESO’s Power Responsive programme encourages large energy users, including data centres and manufacturing sites, to participate in flexibility programmes and it said the open call marks a “major milestone” in its work to make DSF scale a key enabler for a “secure, clean, and affordable energy system”.
Rebecca Beresford, NESO’s Director of Markets, explained: “Energy flexibility is critical to our future energy system, providing cost and carbon incentives for companies that participate, unlocking new commercial revenue streams, and reducing costs for everyday consumers in the process.
“We want to work with Britain’s largest energy users to make this goal a reality and turn energy efficiency into a commercial advantage for British business.”
The energy market isn’t just about buying and selling energy; ultimately it’s about people and relationships. We’re experts in our field but we’re human and relatable – so as we grow our network of consumers, generators, brokers and employees we never lose sight of what’s important – true partnership that energises success.
